PROJECTS
  • In the construction of new roads and in road main- tenance, the removal and profiling of the material from the sides of the paved surface is a job that can take longer than necessary.  At a job site on the A1 autobahn near Bremen, Germany, the contractor had to remove a thin layer of concrete from the side of a freshly paved section of road while leaving the surface sloping at an angle of four degrees away from the newly asphalted layer.  The slope was required to divert rain water away from the road surface.
Using an Erkat asphalt grinder EX 60 together with an HKS Tiltrotator RB 250, the job was completed quickly and with great customer satisfaction. | more…
  • The removal of 18.500m3 of material in a period of 6 weeks is involved
WIWA Wilko Wagner is one of the of the leading demolition companies in the northern part of Germany.  Included in the many large projects carried out by the company in 2009 was the demolition of an air defence bunker built in 1941, located in Stephanstrasse.
To comply with environmental requirements, it was decided to use two Erkat rotary drum cutters rather than hydraulic breakers.  With low noise and vibration levels, the drum cutters eat through the heavily re-enforced concrete. | more…
  • Erkat rotary drum cutters on a job site near the European XFEL X-ray Laser facility in Hamburg
This was a project carried out by WIWA Wilko Wagner using two Erkat rotary drum cutters.  They were used for the installation of retaining walls to depths of 15 to 16m in sandy ground conditions.
An ER 650 mounted on a CAT 323D was used to expose the internal and external surfaces of the upper parts of the re-enforcement cage.  The smaller ER 250 was mounted on a Vio 70 and was used for those areas where the ER 650 was too large. | more…
  • An Erkat ER 1200 with new heavy duty rotator being used in a trenching project by the Regensburg Division of Strabag AG
As part of a water drainage scheme in a residential area near Sauerlach, Germany, Strabag had to excavate a trench, 1.0m wide x 7.5m deep x 800m long.  The trench contained shale down to depth of 3m.  Below the shale lay compacted conglomerate with an unconfined compressive strength between 40 – 50 MPa.  In places, the route of the trench ran right alongside the base of 3m high buildings.
From the start of the project, Strabag had decided to use a standard ER 1200 drum cutter with an Erkat ERU 5 rotator mounted on a 45 ton Liebherr 944 Litronic excavator. | more…
  • Included in a delivery of 4 rotary drum cutters to the Liebherr Rental Fleet in Germany on the 2nd April 2008, was the 1000th unit to be manufactured by Erkat GmbH
“This is a good excuse for a party!”, stated Klaus Ertmer, the Managing Director of Erkat GmbH during the delivery of a special “golden” rum cutter to the rental company, Liebherr Mietpartner in Ludwigs- hafen.  The drum cutter was the 1000th machine to be manufactured by Erkat and it represents a major milestone in the growth of the company. | more…
  • As part of the general improvements and expansion of the international airport at Delhi, one of the main take-off and landing runways is being modernized.  The main contractor, GMR from Hyderabad contracted several companies to lay the 80 kilometers of cable required for the automated landing system. | more…
  • An ER 650 rotary drum cutter in combination with a hydraulic rotation unit ERU 3 is being used to cut out safety areas in the rock at an angle of 45 degrees to the tunnel in Thuringia, Germany. | more…
  • An R 1500-1 is working at depths of up to 13 meters under water in a harbour near Singapore.
Mounted on a Daewoo Solar 280 long arm exca- vator, the drum cutter is being used to deepen the harbour. | more…
